Mirissa Beach
The very relaxed beach of Mirissa is also the most southern one
Overview
This beach is somewhat calmer than Unawatuna and offers colorful sunsets as well as a beach full of beautiful mussels and stones. Since my first visit, some lovely restaurants and bars have opened directly on the beach and it became quite busy. Not far from Mirissa lies Weligama, the perfect place to learn to surf—though the crowds there can be intense.
Around Mirissa, there are numerous beaches and spots specifically for surfers. If you have more experience, you should focus on Ahangama and Midigama which are the surf hotspots in this part of Sri Lanka.

Most tourists are coming for whale watching. You can book the expeditions mostly directly at your accommodation. If you are lucky you'll come to see blue whales // Watch the famous Stick-Fishermen doing their job in the evening at the rocks close to the beach.
